Founding and Purpose
The Colorado Woodworkers Guild was founded in 1980 for the purpose of promoting high quality craftsmanship and artistic expression in all facets of woodworking. The Guild achieves this purpose by providing a forum for sharing experiences and learning new techniques in woodworking. The Guild facilitates the sharing of information, education in the craft of woodworking at all levels and is open to anyone from beginner to professional.
Members and Interests
Currently the Guild has over 160 members from the Colorado “front range” and the western slope. Our membership consists of novices to professional with interests in turning, fine furniture, musical instruments, cabinet making, marquetry and intarsia. Members participate in monthly meetings (except for December), special classes and events, exhibit their work in shows, and contribute to several charitable causes during the year, especially the making of many wooden toys for donation during the holiday season.
Meetings
Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month, 7:00 pm at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware, 2553 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver, Colorado, 80222 unless otherwise announced. Each meeting offers an educational program presented by industry recognized experts, local craft persons or Guild members. Meetings also allow an opportunity for members to share information on specific topics, show their latest projects, and get advice from other members.
The Organization
The Guild is governed by its Board of Directors, which consists of the elected officers: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and the commitee chairs. The committees constitute the real heart of the organization, and all members are encouraged to participate.
Membership
Membership is on an annual basis and can be achieved through application and payment of the $30.00 dues (payable in January). For details on joining click here: Membership.
